Omoda and Jaecoo Confirm Canadian Market Entry for Late 2026

Chery's Omoda and Jaecoo brands launched a Canadian website this month signaling their electrified vehicle arrival in late 2026. The teaser site contains no specific model names, pricing details, or dealer information. A disclaimer states that displayed vehicles are intended for other markets and some may not reach Canada, indicating Chery has not yet finalized its Canadian lineup or chosen to disclose it publicly.

The announcement follows Canada's January reduction of tariffs on Chinese EVs from 100 percent to 6.1 percent, permitting up to 49,000 Chinese-made electrified units annually at the lower rate, expanding to 70,000 by 2030. The quota encompasses plug-in hybrids and conventional hybrids alongside battery-electric vehicles—a distinction favoring Chery's product portfolio.

Across established markets including the UK and Australia, Omoda and Jaecoo offer diverse electrified options. Pure battery models include the Jaecoo E5 with a 60.9 kWh battery delivering 399 km of range and the Omoda E5 offering 430 km on a 61 kWh battery. Plug-in hybrid offerings range from the Jaecoo 7 SHS-P and Omoda 7 SHS-P, each delivering approximately 90 km of electric-only range, to larger three-row variants like the Jaecoo 8 SHS-P and flagship Omoda 9 SHS-P, both featuring 34.46 kWh batteries and 145 km of electric range.
