Kia Unveils PV7 Electric Van: Larger Than Expected With Over 460 km Range

Kia introduced the PV7 as its second electric van under the Platform Beyond Vehicle initiative, establishing a significantly larger offering than its PV5 predecessor. The new van stretches 5,350 mm in length—approximately 655 mm longer than the PV5 Passenger—positioning it even beyond Volkswagen's ID. Buzz in size. The design features a flat floor and modular architecture, enabling multiple body style configurations tailored for distinct commercial and personal applications.

The PV7 offers two battery options featuring nickel-cobalt-manganese chemistry: 71.5 kWh and 96.2 kWh capacities. The Long Range Cargo variant achieves a range surpassing 460 km under WLTP testing protocols. The electric powertrain delivers up to 268 horsepower and 420 Newton-metres of torque depending on configuration. Utilising 800V architecture, the vehicle charges from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 25 minutes via 350 kW DC fast charging.

Front-wheel drive remains standard, with all-wheel drive planned for introduction later. The Cargo model is available in 2- and 3-seat layouts offering up to 6.1 cubic metres of cargo space, expandable to 8 cubic metres with the high-roof variant. The Passenger version accommodates up to 9 occupants globally or 11 in the Korean market, featuring removable seating systems for flexible interior arrangements.

Kia will launch Passenger and Cargo versions in Korea and Europe during the second half of 2027, followed by market expansion and introduction of diverse derivative and conversion models. The manufacturer plans to develop 23 distinct PV7 variants across compact, long, and high-roof configurations. Pricing information will be disclosed closer to the market launch date.
